No homeowner should hire a contractor without first taking a few moments to visit the State of California Contractors State License Board website. Much of the preliminary information you should be equipped with is available here at no cost. This includes on the status of a contractor's license, insurance information, bond information, and whether or not the contractor has been disciplined in the past for violations of any of the applicable state codes enacted to protect you.
