The Way to Present Your Laundry a Boost

We have our laundry pet peeves. I actually don’t mind doing laundry but I’m famous for procrastinating the folding and putting-away area of the process. And we all share a desire to continue to keep our clothes looking good and lasting longer than one season. Here are 8 easy tricks that show some frequent laundry errors and how to prevent them.

1. Maintain your true colors. It isn’t simply the water temperature on your wash load which may fade your laundry. If you stuff your washer near the brim, the clothing rubbing against each other abrades the fabric’s fibers and leads to colour loss.

Keep it loose — your clothes will get cleaner and remain brighter if you do not overstuff the washer.

2. Type and different. Sure, we all know combining whites with reds might leave you with pink socks. But it is not simply colors — but flaws — you need to type, also. All those fuzzy sweatshirts, nubby robes, flannels, and towels will include lint to your other clothes during washing. Avoid the fuzzy mess and wash them separately.

It is a delicate thing: Why are there specialty detergents to your delicates? It is because the enzymes in routine detergents can harm wool or silk. Delicate detergents are enzyme-free to keep your clothing in good condition. But should you get a blot, take your silk blouse to the dry cleaner — enzyme-free detergents are unsuccessful at removing stains.

3. Less is more. Many of us are currently using high-efficiency front-loading washer machines. You need to be certain you’re using a high-efficiency detergent, or follow the directions for front-loaders. Contrary to belief, adding more detergent than you will need to your machine doesn’t give you cleaner clothing — actually, the opposite is generally true. The dirt floats away in the suds of the scrub. With a lot of suds, the dirt will not be effectively washed away.

4. Treat stains straight away. I have had this happen to me before. A spoonful of soda has on my top. I dab on a little water on it, and also the blot seems to go away. But in the future, it reappears.

What happened? The sugar in the blot will clot in the atmosphere and finally turn yellow or brown. It is ideal to treat a stain right away — when you’re away from home a spoonful of Oxi-Clean Spray-A-Way or even a a mix of dishwashing detergent and water will help.

Buy 20 Mule Team Borax Natural Laundry Booster & Multi-Purpose Household Cleaner – $9.49

It may be the water. Should you feel as though your detergent isn’t getting your clothes clean, your water might be the offender. Laundry detergent performs much better in softer water — you’ll see better dirt removal. If you find you have harder water, attempt 20 Mule Team Borax, which softens the water.
